About This Special Issue
Additive manufacturing (AM) is a nascent and rapidly evolving technology of significant commercial importance, having great potential for promoting transformative research in many fields across the vast spectrum of engineering and material science. Applications, such as tooling, mechanical components, biomedical devices and implants, orthodontic parts, automotive and aerospace components, all benefit from the simplicity and flexibility that AM provides.
To implement the potential applications and the characteristics of the printed parts, several new kinds of materials are developing. This Special Issue focuses on the application of advanced and innovative materials (e.g. composite materials, ceramic photopolymeric resins, thermoplastic filament with metal powders…). It is focused on analytical and experimental works aimed at achieving the desired material properties and geometries of the final structure. This includes assessing the impact of process parameters and predicting optimized conditions. Submissions related to novel applications are also welcomed.
